Challenge 14: What I (Wish I) Wore Today

I have to say it’s been a great pleasure seeing this collaboration with the Pen Pals! I hope we do this together sometime again. So for this challenge, I did more of an outfit that I wish I wore today, haha! I’m still shopping to find that nautical striped blazer …

Challenge 14: What I Wore Today (Collaboration with The Pen Pals)

Marilyn Monroe wore Chanel No.5 to her bed and I wore Chloe Eau de Parfum today, yesterday, everyday. For a while I thought I was getting tired of my signature perfume, but after hours of searching all Sephoras in Manhattan to get this during a Christmas season, I just can’t part myself from this fragrance.

Challenge 14: What I Wore Today (Collaboration with The Pen Pals)

Hi guys!
First of all, I want to say HELLO to the lovely ladies at The Pen Pals! This was a great/fun challenge and comforting to know there are others out there who are just as excited about illustrating as us. Your collective is super!
I have two versions, one which I probably am going to upload to the actual WIWT website that conforms to what they seem to do, and one that I created with a plethora of flora. EVERYTHING is blooming here in Durham right now, and I literally freak out every time I pass a cherry blossom tree. So I’m basically a mess these days—hollering “AHHHHHHH FLOOOWERS!!!!!” every corner I turn. I have not created anything traditionally in a while and with so much inspiration around me, I couldn’t help but pull out my watercolors and I just had fun with it. Believe it or not, that scan is 600 dpi, but the scanner they have at my school just doesn’t work like the good ol’ Epson 10000xl we had back at SCAD. Sigh….
Well anyhoo, hope everyone enjoys! Happy Spring everyone!!!

Challenge 14: What I Wore on a Good Day with The Pen Pals

Hey all!
First off, I just want to say a big THANKS to The Pen Pals again for approaching us with the idea to collaborate. It’s always great to network with other illustrators, and we had a lot of fun with this!
My process for this piece was much different than my usual method. I actually did sketches every day, during one of the most fantastic weeks I’ve had in a long time. South By Southwest was providing tons of entertainment (and free shows, which I was able to see 5 of!), my best friend was in town doing interviews, the weather was lovely, and I was able to enjoy Austin probably more than I ever have. Usually I don’t sketch much, but I felt that the week needed to be documented in as many ways as possible. This also gave me options to choose from for my final piece. Check out the sketches on my tumblr!
I went with this day because of the patterning and color of my romper, but also because it was arguably the best day of the best week ever. I suppose I’m sentimental about it!

Challenge 14: “What I Wore Today” w/ The Pen Pals

As you can see, I got a wee bit excited and cranked them all out the other day XB I may do some more but who knows!

Challenge 14: “What I Wore Today” with The Pen Pals
Our next challenge is a very exciting one! Square Carousel was approached by The Pen Pals, a group that is pretty similar in concept to our own. They suggested collaborating for our next challenge, and we decided to all create entries for Gemma Correll’s “What I Wore Today!”
We are looking forward to illustrating with you, Pen Pals! Can’t wait to see what you come up with, too!
