Challenge 8: Jazz and Draw Teddy Wilson, “Summertime”
This will have to be brief because I’m getting ready for work, but I wanted to say that this was a fun opportunity with Jazz and Draw, and I’m so happy we were approached for it! My piece is clearly a pattern, which was inspired by Teddy Wilson’s “Summertime.” I loved the rendition of the song, and then when I was doing a bit of research, I found out that Teddy was originally from Austin. I knew I had to do something with him! I chose to create the piece this way because of the rhythms and repetitions that jazz and patterns have in common. The music itself inspired the color palette and general mood for the illustration.
Thanks again, Jazz and Draw!
