Challenge 11: Favorite Movie “Big Fish”

Hi all!
This challenge surprised me in actually being way more difficult than I anticipated! First of all, picking a movie wasn’t easy. I love so many, but I usually don’t watch them frequently. The movie I’ve probably seen the most times, however, is Tim Burton’s “Big Fish.” It’s so visually stunning, magical and mysterious that I can find something new about it every single viewing. I spent some time sketching, and kept coming up with obvious visual metaphors for the film, which I wasn’t happy with. There are so many beautiful scenes, characters, and time periods that “Big Fish” covers. How could I possibly represent them all adequately? While pondering concepts, I kept finding myself drawing Sandra Templeton, the true love of protagonist Edward Bloom. When Edward first sees her at the circus, time literally stops, and although he knows nothing about her, he is willing to work for the ringmaster to receive one fact every month. The mystery initially surrounding Sandra, and Edward’s curious way of romance, in a way, embodies a good portion of the film’s mood. It’s lovely, romantic, and odd, which leaves you wondering if it could have even happened at all…
