Challenge 33: 4th of July - James Harling
This was both an experiment in medium and a more relaxed style. However after 2 days of finishing I disliked it so much i started work on another which I will post in a few days to come.
Back to this image, I’m english so as a joke between me and my friends we play on the fact that I’m not allowed to partake in the 4th of july celebrations. So naturally i had to draw myself alone. Beaten up, dressed a redcoat.
….. In all honestly i’ll probably be making lattes at the coffee house.
Challenge 33: 4th of July
For this challenge I picked the fourth of July holiday for a theme. You can illustrate what it means to you, what your traditions are, or what you wish you were doing that day. Let the fireworks and hotdog cookouts begin!

challenge 32 : summer swap - guest julia lavigne to charlotte jackson
i was very lucky to get an idea from julia that features subject matter i’m familiar with - ladies doing cute lady things! and i live in one of the hottest and most tropical places in the US but don’t swim often, so seeing this part of summer is always nice to me. i hope i get to see a pool more often this season…
and um, obviously i had to incorporate a circle …
Challenge 32: Summer Swap: Charlotte Jackson to Chris Nickels

Challenge 32: Summer Swap-Molly Wilson to Courtney Wirth
Molly gave me a cute image of ants partying with a watermelon they managed to take from a nearby picnic. It reminded me I haven’t gone on a picnic in awhile and how much I love watermelon in the summer, especially at the beach! Hopefully I can get my fill this season, excluding the ants stealing the fruit away from me.
Cheers!

Challenge 32: Summer Swap: Elizabeth Beals to Sarah Carr
Elizabeth gave me this amazing sketch to work with and I was so super excited to color. The composition and subject really reminded me of a vintage soda ad, so I decided it would be fun to turn it into one! I had a ton of fun with challenge and I hope it turns into one we return to regularly.
SarahChallenge 32: Summer Swap: James Harling to Molly Wilson
The idea behind the sketch James gave me was that guys playing volleyball get all the chicks. Cheers for summer!

Challenge 32: Summer Swap: Julia Yellow to Caitlin B. Alexander
I wish Julia could do sketches for me all the time! This was such a fun challenge. Collaboration is a great way to get out of your rut and/or comfort zone.
